Cocktails, Crystals and Cards
In the 19th century scholars, artists and thinkers would travel from far and wide to visit the Vienna home of Berta Zuckerkandl for one of her legendary salons. Zuckerkandl –a Jewish writer, journalist, art critic, and central figure in Austrian culture– would host everyone from Gustav Klimt to Auguste Rodin. Today, the discussions that took place in Zuckerkandl’s salons, and many like hers, are credited for the forward movement of modernity.
As early as the 17th century women have been hosting salons and making room for the revolutionary ideas that shape society. In the socially acceptable role of hostess, women were able to enter the social and cultural discussions that they were usually excluded from. Since the beginning of time, women have gathered to share knowledge, art and sacred practices as a form of communal growth and survival.
In honoring the spirit of the salon, I will be hosting four gatherings of Cocktails, Crystals and Cards throughout the year. You'll receive a magickal package beforehand with a crystal, cocktail recipe and a special something to elevate your beverage. We'll gather each season for a virtual round table discussion where we'll explore the properties of the crystal and focus on a specific tarot card selected. The goal of these salons is to celebrate community and encourage the sharing of collective knowledge. Come ready to raise a glass and add your witchy wisdom!
